A Scandanavian food dish consisting of raw salmon that has been cured in a mixture of salt, sugar, and dill. The salmon and the dry ingredients are wrapped and placed under a heavy object so that the salmon is pressed as it cures in the refrigerator for about two days. After curing, it is sliced very thin and served as an appetizer or in sandwiches with dark bread. A dill-mustard sauce is often served as an accompaniment.
