Edible items added to food dishes that provide added flavor and appealing appearances for the items being served. Garnishes may include sprigs of parsley or other greens, fruit slices, croutons, sauces, bits of herbs, or edible flowers. A primary rule of garnishing is that the Garnish should always complement the appearance and flavor of the food. There are a variety of different shapes and cuts made to fruits, vegetables and meats that are consided as decorative cuts made by garnishing utensils. Knives, multi-bladed cutters and other utensils are produced for the purpose of assisting with the garnishing of foods when creating various cuts for food presentations.
