A type of strong liquor distilled from various grains such as barley, oats, and wheat and then flavored with juniper berries, which are harvested from the evergreen juniper shrub. Unlike many other types of liquor, gin is not aged before it is sold. Gin is a popular ingredient for cocktails such as a martini or a gin and tonic.
