A utensil used to check the temperature of the oven so the reading can be compared to the temperature set on the oven dial. With the use of an Oven Thermometer, temperatures can be checked to insure it remains consistent throughout the baking or roasting time. Oven Themometers are made for both grills and kitchen ovens, each designed for the purpose of measuring temperatures within each type of oven. An Oven Thermometer will most often be for kitchen oven use while a thermometer for the grill will be referred to as a Grill or Grilling Thermometer. At times, the Grilling Thermometer may also be used as a Suface Thermometer to measure temperatures on the suface of pans as well as grills. Typically, each guage will be manufactured so they can either be hung from oven racks or clipped (or placed) onto grill grates in order to be positioned so tempertures are accurately measured.

| Traditional ratatuille requires browning each vegetable separately to develop individual flavors, then combining them for further cooking to blend the flavors. This method, while not necessarily quicker, is less work. Quantities and proportions can be varied to suit personal preferences and seasonal availability. Serves 4 as a vegetarian entrée, more if used as a side dish. Be sure to use shallow pans so the vegetables roast rather than steam. |
