Egg Foo Yung

An egg omelet or a lightly scrambled egg dish prepared with stir-fried meats and vegetables that may be baked, prepared on a stovetop, or fried. An Egg Foo Yung often has the appearance of a puffy, round pancake. Typical ingredients may include any meats such as shrimp, sausage (lop cheong), pork, beef, or chicken and a variety of vegetables. Mushrooms, celery, onion, and bean sprouts are also common ingredients combined with the meat. Egg Foo Yung is a Chinese-American dish that is often served with a tan colored sauce made from chicken broth, soy sauce, and seasonings. Egg Foo Yung may also be referred to as Foo-Yung, Foo Yong, Fu-Yung, Fu Yung, or Furong.
