Hi! This is Laurie from RecipeTips.com. And today we are going to be making chocolate covered strawberries. Start with one pound of fresh strawberries that are nice and ripe and red. And have nice tall greens to hang on to. Then just wipe them off with a damp paper towel to remove any debris. Start by placing a couple inches of water into a saucepan and bring it to a boil. Place eight ounces of semi-sweet chocolate plus one tablespoon of shortening into a glass bowl. And once the water starts to boil place the bowl on top of it and it is going to act as a double boiler. Once you have it on top, shut the water off and the chocolate will begin to melt. As the chocolate melts, make sure that the water from the pan doesn't get inside the bowl or your chocolate will start to seize. Once the chocolate is melted and nice and smooth, take a strawberry and grab it by the top, the green part, and just dunk it into the chocolate. You want to leave a little bit of the red on the strawberry showing. Let it drip just a little bit and then you are going to set in onto wax paper to dry. The next step is to drizzle them with white chocolate but before we do that we are going to let them set at room temperature to let the chocolate harden just a little bit. Melt the white chocolate the same way you did the semi-sweet chocolate. Use a fork and then just lightly drizzle the white chocolate over each strawberry. After you drizzle the strawberries with white chocolate, set them in the refrigerator for at least fifteen minutes before serving. For more great recipes, visit RecipeTips.com.
